Bruce Latshaw, December 16, 2012

In this teaching focusing on Isaiah 9:6, Bruce speaks of Christmas as God’s opening salvo in His divine war against Satan’s usurped control of Planet Earth. Discussing the four messianic titles in that passage, Bruce shows Jesus as a kingly warrior whose resistance to humanity’s enemy started with His birth and continued as He “went about doing good, healing all who were oppressed by the devil.” Bruce concludes by focusing on the church’s task in following Jesus in also “doing good to all people, especially to the church” as we “are not overcome by evil, but overcome evil by doing good.” The active doing of good in word, deed, and thought to all we encounter is thus seen as one of our “divinely empowered weapons” as we co-labor with Christ in extending His kingdom.
